I know unboxings are pretty lame, especially without Dragon Dildos or whatever, but I just got this and it's pretty poorly-documented online, so I figured there's no better place to show it off than an ephemeral 4chan thread my stupid website.
This is the Hyper Hobby exclusive Meganula (Meganura?) figure. I'm not sure what year it's from, who manufactured it, or really much else. Will these mysteries be solved?
But of course, the most exciting part of this figure is the egg. Of all the eggs in the Godzilla series, this is perhaps the fourth most iconic, after Mothra's, Babygodzilla's, and that guy's hard-boiled egg in Mothra vs. Godzilla.
Here's the instruction sheet. I was hoping this would give me any concrete information about the manufacture, but nothing that I recognize as a pig.
The detail is very good, and certainly on par with MMS figures of this era. The paint is not great, but certainly better than modern Bandai. There's no maker's mark on it whatsoever.
The wing's are a very thin plastic. They remind me of a cheap ruler I had in elementary school. The slots for the wings are not pre-cut into the body, but there are some helpful guidelines seemingly written in ballpoint pen.
I haven't got any hobby knives around, so for right now I'm going to leave the figure uncut, like a good father should.
I meant this to be a size comparison between Megaguirus and the Meganula. It didn't come out that way.
Since I got this figure, I've seen it come up a few times on Mandarake, and they claim it was made by Bandai. I still don't see anything on the box or instructions that can confirm as much, however. Maybe I can track down the issue of Hyper Hobby this came from.
If I get more info, I'll update the page. Until then.
